A health claim linking sugar free gum and risk reduction of dental caries was reviewed and cleared by Health Canada’s Food Directorate. This review was conducted based on a dossier submitted and accepted by another trusted food safety and nutrition risk assessment authority : the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). This review was also conducted in application of the Directorate’s approach to consider information developed by other trusted food safety jurisdictions, where applicable, to guide Canadian food standard decisions.
